11 Insider Tips on Getting Buyers From Posting Articles

September 1, 2009 by Peter Cantelo

It’s proven article marketing on the internet can get you buyers for your product or service – and good traffic to boost your site’s ratings.

Sounds great – but someone’s got to write the articles. There are some options; you can find someone to write them for you – or if it makes time Vs money sense do it yourself.

Today I’m going to give you a helping hand in writing them yourself.

You are trying to win prizes – but not literary ones. Of course the more you write the better you’ll get. Starting today, follow these basic steps and you will produce more-effective articles that will help promote your business into an online success story.

1. In the first paragraph, clearly state what the article is about. In journalism this first paragraph would describe who, what, why, when and where an event is happening. In articles you need to outline a problem or outline a solution, such as ‘10 Ways to Avoid Bad Debt’ or ‘Discover The Best Way To Choose X (Your Service)’ to grab the reader’s attention, and then explain how the article is going to solve the problem “by showing a simple step-by-step approach to (your topic)”. These headlines are best if they outline real end user benefits.

2. Organise your material in a point-by-point fashion. Before you begin writing, think of the points your article is going to address. You may not necessarily show the points, as I am doing in this article (calling them ten tips). Simply know what you are going to say before you begin writing. Create a brief outline by writing these bullet points / headings.

3. Make the reader feel at ease. You want to please your readers, because you are not trying impress an old teacher or be approved for a scientific patent. Be sure to write in a simple style. If you introduce new terms, define them for your readers… especially if it includes industry jargon that may confuse someone who doesn’t know much about the topic.

4. Always explain your points in short paragraphs. Short paragraphs are easier for a reader’s eyes to follow, because no one enjoys looking at a long block of solid text. Three, four or at most five sentences are usually enough for one paragraph.

5. Spill the beans! Tell your trade secrets! Don’t hold back get your best information out there. This will create more of a demand for your goods and services, by providing more information. This is a proven, effective marketing tool. By doing this, people will realise that you really are an authority on your subject matter.

6. Give real examples and personal experiences to back up your points. Explain a problem you faced and how you solved it.

7. Emphasize the benefits of your product or service. Benefits sell, features don’t… and this is true for both online and offline sales or advertising. Nobody bought toothbrushes until someone brought in the benefit of white teeth

8. Provide resource information to your readers, by showing website addresses where your readers can get more information regarding the topic or your claims. These may be your own websites or other resources. This is very important, as it gives the reader a sense of comfort by showing your willingness to display your material.

9. Get another opinion on your article. Show it to your spouse, friends, or colleagues and don’t worry if they criticise you. I would rather have a spouse or friend find a mistake, before my article is distributed across the Internet – truth is some of the best article writers have behind them a great proof reader.

10. Get the most important information near the beginning of the article. If there are any editors involved where you submit your articles they often cut out more towards the end. Doing this will make sure your readers learn all the most valuable information. You should always provide a summary at the end of your article and leave the reader with the impression that more great information can be found at your website, in a book, or by subscribing to a newsletter.

11. How Do I Do it? The missing bit that most won’t tell you – to write articles ask yourself questions on the topic you are going to write about – use the answers to start filling out the paragraphs; here goes:

  • Who is your reader?
  • The benefit you want to highlight?
  • The problem you want to solve?
  • Why are you an expert?
  • What product or service do you provide?
  • Top 3 facts about your subject?
  • Top 3 misunderstandings / mistakes for your subject?
  • What examples can you give?
  • Are there other places you should refer them too?
  • What can you offer if they visit your site?
  • What else?

The process can be slow at first, although numerous authors have achieved success in a month or so.  US based readers will find more article marketing services at their disposal.  For UK & Europe – they exist but a bit of testing and measuring to find the one that works for you is important. You will see an immediate increase in website traffic – test and measure where the buyers come from. Print this article, keep it near your computer, and choose high-quality article submission software to ease the burden of the submission process and help you distribute your articles faster.

Regards

Peter
